The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the action of the Government of Spain after the dana for the recovery of rural roads and agricultural infrastructures in the hamlet of La Torre. The Government has allocated EUR 3 million to irrigated communities, farms and roads in the southern districts of the city of Valencia.
In the case of La Torre, the works involve an investment of about 190,000 euros for the cleaning of the vegetable and voluminous remains dragged by the runoff of the water and the reconstruction of the stabilization wall of the road that collapsed, with the objective - said the delegate - "to avoid a repetition of the current situation". According to Barnabas, “once the stretch regains stability and allows safe transit with machinery, the restoration of the next sections of the road will continue”. Once insured, the team of plots will be able to start their work. Again, said Bernabé, “it will be the Government of Spain that solves the problems to the City of València, which is the one that should have guaranteed that the neighbors of La Torre could access their houses by the collapsed road, as all the consistories affected by the dana have done.” The City Council of Valencia “should have guaranteed that this road was made from the first week, with emergency aid that, by the way, is paid by the Government of Spain”. For this reason, he reminded the mayor of the city that, “apart from overreactions on the cleaning of the Turia river, which is its obligation in the urban area and carried out by the Government of Spain, it is also its competence and obligation to guarantee its neighbors that they can access their homes.”
The Spanish Government has allocated more than 400 million for reconstruction in the city of València. Of these, about 140 million euros are to cover 100% of the repair and/or reconstruction of the municipal owned infrastructures. In addition, 85.7 million euros have been contributed by Adif for the recovery of the Neighbourhoods network.
The delegate stressed that “it is important to remember the effort of the Government of Spain in the reconstruction of the province of Valencia. A reconstruction and recovery after the damage led by the Government of Spain”. “Reconstruction,” he added, “should serve not to stay as before, but to make us more resilient and better.” “The government’s commitment is to be, to help, to invest and to rebuild,” he concluded.
