The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended together with the mayor, Eva Sanz, the reopening of the Somnis de Paper bookstore that was destroyed by the dana of last October 29.
“Reopening Paper’s Somnis isn’t just reselling books. It’s bringing life back. It is to show that when dreams take root in a town like Benetússer they do not drown, but become stronger. We are witnessing the recovery that we all want, which still remains and which has to come from the hand of the responsible governments that help citizens to be able to reopen. As we see today, it reopens this library, Somnis de Paper”, said the delegate.
The delegate stressed that “the Government of Spain will continue to stand by those affected by the dana”. And he added that he has invested more than 4 million euros in the reconstruction of the cultural sector, with 300,000 euros destined for independent bookshops.
In addition, Bernabé indicated that “we have seen how the Insurance Consortium of the Government of Spain has paid over 80% to industries, which is what is most delayed; over 90% to housing; and over 97% to vehicles. We continue to work to make the reconstruction real and effective. We’re going to keep going, we’re going to continue working so that the pharmacy in front of us can reopen. So that many stores that are still waiting to open can do so. But, above all, let them know that they can count on the Government of Spain.”
