The DGT launches the special operation of Traffic 1 of May that will take place in the Valencian Community from 15:00 hours today until 24:00 hours on Sunday, May 4. To this end, special traffic regulation and management measures will be established.
In this Special Operation, a total of 7,540,000 long-distance journeys are expected at the national level, of which 918,372 correspond to the Valencian Community. If we compare it with last year’s data, an increase in mobility of 2.35% is expected, nationally and 1.19% in the Valencian Community.
The Labor Festival, along with Friday, May 2, a holiday in various autonomous communities, will give rise to a period of rest and leisure that will lead to an important movement of vehicles. The circulation on our roads will be increased with long and short trips whose main destinations will be coastal and coastal tourist areas, mountain tourist areas, camping and camping, and second residences. For this reason, the Directorate-General for Traffic has implemented a series of traffic regulation, management and monitoring measures.
The government delegate to the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has called on drivers to “take extreme precautions and respect the traffic regulations”. Bernabé stressed “the importance of respecting safety limitations, the non-use of mobile phones while driving and the mandatory use of belts and child restraint systems”. He stressed the importance of speed control and that “0.0% should be the alcohol rate. That will be the tolerance to the consumption of alcohol and other substances.” And it has influenced distractions at the wheel as the “first cause of mortality” in traffic accidents.”
“We recommend that they prepare the trip well, organize it and inform themselves through the official channels. That they avoid the hours of maximum influx. As you know, the bridge operation begins today at 3 p.m. and will end on Sunday at 12 p.m. Above all, we ask for a lot of caution.”
