The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended the celebration of the World Meteorological Day 2025 in the Valencian Community.
In this event, he highlighted “the information and dissemination” that is transmitted from agencies such as the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and that are fundamental for, among other things, “air safety, agricultural production or action in emergencies”.
In this regard, Bernabé thanked “the work carried out by AEMET on October 29”, the day on which “the notices and information arrived punctually” and “there was no scientific erasure”. The delegate added that “today more than ever, we know that negationism, in any of its aspects, kills”. “It kills to ignore, deny or frivolous climate change and, in addition, it is the first step to be late for an emergency,” said Bernabé.
The delegate said that the Valencian Community “has become the epicentre of climate change” and therefore requires “early warning systems” and “the strengthening of meteorological services”. Therefore, the Government of Spain, “under progressive governments, has taken the initiative to confront climate change” with the renewal of the State Meteorological Agency or the definitive impulse of the Es-Alert system.
In this battle, Bernabé pointed out, “it is imperative to strengthen the global consensus” based on the “leadership of governments and with milestones such as the European Green Pact”.
