The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the Superior Chief of Police of the Valencian Community, Carlos Gajero, and the Provincial Commissioner Valencia, Vicente Martínez, has visited the new police facilities in the Central District of València.
Bernabé has reported that the Government of Spain “has invested more than 1.2 million euros for the works of reform of these facilities that have a complaint office, Citizen Security Response Operative Groups (GOR) and Judicial Power Units”. She added that she has a staff of 63 police officers, of whom 11 are women.
Bernabé said that it is “an infrastructure necessary to serve this area of the city, which is strategic when the City Council, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Government Delegation and the Captaincy General meet”. In addition, “there is a lot of floating population and it is the area with the highest number of shops per square meter, the area with the most influx of tourists, with more fallera activity and leisure life”.
The delegate stressed that the Government “is aware that the State Security Forces require the best possible resources to carry out their important work.” Therefore, “it is concerned and concerned with dignifying the working conditions of our and our agents.” In addition, “the government’s commitment to security also depends on the increase in troops.” In this sense, he has highlighted “the historical record” that means that currently about 15,000 agents of the State Security Forces and Corps (more than 7,500 National Police agents and more than 7,400 civil guards) carry out their work in the Valencian Community. In the province of Valencia, there are about 7,750 troops (4,400 national police and about 3,400 civil guards).
All this has favored that, according to the data of the last crime report of the Ministry of the Interior, in the Valencian Community the crime rate has dropped more than 1.8 points compared to September 2024. In the city of València, the total variation in crime from January to December 2024, compared to 2023, fell by 4%.
According to Bernabé, “the government is making progress in security in the Comunitat and in Valencia. And he has a strong commitment to citizenship and to the FCSE.”
