The Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided, together with the Superior Chief of Police, Carlos Gajero, over the events of the 201th anniversary of the creation of the National Police and the delivery of diplomas to retired police officers.
In this act, the delegate has praised the work of the agents of the National Police who “have worked and work in the reconstruction work of the municipalities affected by the dana”. The National Police has been in “the tasks of identifying victims and caring for relatives, in a very hard work where their psychosocial intervention teams have been essential”. To this, “the important service” has been added to facilitate the issuance of identification documentation that citizens lost. In this regard, he pointed out that “the five mobile offices put into operation have already issued 7,500 national identity documents”.
Bernabé has also referred to the new types of crime faced by police forces such as cybercrime and hate crimes and has highlighted “the essential role” they play in the fight against gender violence with specialized units and “pioneering facilities” such as the Office of Complaints and Attention to Women (ODAM) of Valencia.
At the moment, the delegate indicated, there are more than 7,500 troops working in the Valencian Community thanks to the fact that “the Government has reversed the lack of replacement of agents that the Police suffered for years”. The goal, he added, “is to continue to increase this figure to cover all the needs that the Superior Leadership marks.” In addition, he recalled, “this year it is planned that the works in Zapadores will end, in what will be the second largest police station in Spain” and that, with 30 M€, he has had “the largest investment in police infrastructures of the legislature”.
