The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar (CHJ), Miguel Ángel Polo, visited this morning the emergency works that are carried out in the Júcar-Turia canal, damaged by the flood on October 29.
An action that, according to the delegate, “is included within the 47 million euros that the Government has given the green light to be destined for emergency works of the CHJ, for the recovery of infrastructures after the damage. Right now, the Government of Spain continues to invest in the recovery of Valencia through the Confederation, with a mobilization that has more than 215 million destined for a total of twenty-four works of general interest in emergency contracts.”
Bernabé, on his visit to the Júcar-Turia canal, explained that “this infrastructure is classified as critical for supplying drinking water to the city of València and its metropolitan area, as well as to the region of Camp de Morvedre. In other words, we are talking about the supply to two million people. A supply that both the Government of Spain and the Confederation have guaranteed to the population. Precisely, these works have allowed the Manises water treatment plant to be in operation.”
“And now it’s about moving forward as quickly as possible to repair the damage. An action that has a total investment of 31.1 million euros and that is a provisional solution that will allow us to have a more robust and definitive channel by the end of the year, which is the forecast that the CHJ decides.”
The whole of the emergency work is divided into two lots. The first, awarded to Aguas de Valencia, for 19.2 million euros, provides for the restoration of the service interrupted by the collapse of the aqueducts of l'Horteta and the Poyo, with the installation of a provisional pumping, as well as the assurance of the service at the crossing of the Magro River through the repair and stabilization of the aqueduct and by-pass of the river.
Lot two, awarded to Torres Cámara, for 10.9 million euros, includes the action to ensure long-term service at the crossings of the ravines of l’Horteta and the Poyo, with the execution of works to replace the aqueducts of l’Horteta and the Poyo.
