Almost 9,000 members of the Armed Forces work during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve in the reconstruction work of the municipalities affected by the dana. The actions carried out by the Army focus on the rehabilitation of the various public infrastructures and cleaning up the cities.
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, who today visited the troops of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and the Moroccan civil protection contingent that have been displaced to the dana area, thanked the support of the neighboring country while recalling that since October 29 “the women and men of the Army have been in the front line to return normality to the municipalities affected by this terrible catastrophe and developing all those tasks that the direction of the emergency has required.” The delegate has detailed that, at the moment, the work of the troops is focused on the cleaning of public facilities as well as garages and basements and street loopholes, among others.
Bernabé pointed out that “this New Year’s Eve is a very sad night for thousands of Valencians who are suffering the terrible consequences of a dana in their municipalities in the province of Valencia. Therefore, the troops deployed by the Government of Spain in the affected area will continue to work tirelessly, twenty-four hours seven days a week, to achieve as soon as possible, and among all, the reconstruction.”
In addition, he stressed and thanked “the commitment, effort, dedication and involvement of our Armed Forces in the recovery and reconstruction of the Valencian municipalities. I would like to remind you that it is an unprecedented mobilization of the Army in time of peace, with the objective of recovering the daily and daily life of the Valencian women.”
