The deputy delegate of the Government in Valencia, José Rodríguez Jury, has presided together with the mayor of València, María José Catalá, the local security board held on the occasion of the Christmas holidays. The security operation that will take place until January 6, will be composed, according to Rodríguez Jury, by 2,000 National Police officers. This mechanism will pay special attention to the commercial areas with the greatest influx and to the transport infrastructures in collaboration and coordination with the local police.
According to the deputy delegate, “these are days of an important overcrowding derived from Christmas shopping”. For this reason, “commercial areas and public transport infrastructures will be taken care of to avoid crimes”. The operation will be made up of “uniformed and civilian” troops. At the same time, the troops that reinforce “security in the neighborhoods affected by the dana” will be maintained.
Also, a safe trade guide will be distributed among merchants and citizens with which they will be informed of the steps to be followed in the event of any type of crime. Rodríguez Jury recalled that the State Security Forces and Corps will, during these days, be especially vigilant to combat cybercrime, “a type of crime that has increased in recent times.”
