The Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided together with the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain, the Superior Chief of Police in the Valencian Community, Carlos Gajero, and the Chief General of the Sixth Zone of the Civil Guard, Arturo Prieto, among others, the minute of silence called at the headquarters of the Delegation of the Government in condemnation of the latest machista murder of Orihuela (Alicante) and in support of the relatives and friends of the victim.
“This murder, the seventh for male violence in the Valencian Community so far this year,” said Bernabé, “is a call to help society so that we all fight against gender violence.” “We all have to turn ourselves into violet dots and denounce the situations of women who are in danger,” said the delegate. This new murder “that tears us apart as a society” shows that “all administrations need to fight this scourge together.” Likewise, Bernabé has recognized “the work and professionalism” of the State Security Forces and Corps that work for the protection of the 17,000 women of the Valencian Community who are within the VioGén system.
With the woman murdered in Orihuela there are 42 victims of gender-based violence in Spain so far this year, seven of them in the Valencian Community. The minute of silence was also held in the subdelegations of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón.
