The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided over the institutional act in commemoration of the Day of the Writers. In this event, held at the Palacio del Temple in collaboration with the Classical and Modern Association, the writers Rosa María Rodríguez Magda, Fani Grande, María García Lliberós, Isabel Robles, Rosario Raro, Victoria Daboise, Marina Gilabert and Dolors López have read texts by different Valencian authors from other times, such as Arabella Salaverry, María Ibars, Paca Aguirre, María Beneyto, Carmen Conde, Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas, Conquel Me Carjuana.
Representatives of the Valencian cultural world have gathered in this literary evening, presented by the journalist Julia Ruiz, in which the singer-songwriter Ana Zomeño has also participated.
The Government of Spain “has as a priority objective the protection of culture and its relevant role in the construction of an egalitarian society,” said Bernabé. Thus, he said, “democracy, fundamental rights and freedoms and the Welfare State are protected, without forgetting linguistic plurality”. “This last aspect is necessary in the Valencian Community, where the care of the Valencian does not spend his best hours”, he stressed.
The Government, he said, “claims with this act, promoted by the National Library, the role, work and talent of the authors, those of other times and contemporary ones.” “Writers who have had to face for a long time the difficulty of a creative plot that was occupied by men,” she said. “Fortunately,” he added, “everything has changed. We can’t sit back, though, because there’s a lot to do.”
The delegate recalled that, through the Ministry of Culture, support has been promoted, among others, for the translation of works into the different languages of the State, for reading animation in the rural world and to strengthen the publishing industry, literary creation, book editing and the modernization of bookstores.
