· Although the competition is autonomous, the Government invests in the beginning of the school year more than €170M extra in the education of the C. Valenciana
· The delegate and the new head of the High Inspection of Education have met with unions and representatives of the educational community
· Barnabas stresses that “the Government will be vigilant so that state resources are used to improve public education”
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has reported that “the school year begins with an investment of more than 170 million euros extra from the Ministry of Education for the education of this community.” Although the competence in education is autonomous, said Bernabé, the Government of Spain “contributes in a loyal, clear and forceful way in the improvement of public education in the Valencian Community, an investment that materializes through different territorial cooperation programs.” These programs, the delegate said, “are intended to improve public education quantitatively and qualitatively. That is the end of this investment and that is why the Government of Spain will be vigilant so that the resources of all Spaniards and Spaniards are destined for that purpose.”
The delegate has met with the unions and representatives of the educational community of the Valencian Community on the occasion of the incorporation of the new head of the High Inspection of Education, José Manuel Francia, to “establish ties of collaboration and work in order to improve educational quality”.
The delegate has highlighted “the concern of the educational community about the ratio of professionals”. “Closing more than 200 classrooms,” said Bernabé, “does not help to improve the ratios, and in that we will also be vigilant.” In addition, “formulas will be sought to know that the effort of the Government of Spain is being met to improve the free, universal and public early childhood education to which the Ministry has allocated 15 million euros for the Valencian Community”.
The Government, said the delegate, “has taken good note of the concerns of the educational community.” Both in the Admission Decree and in “the misnamed law of Educational Freedom”, the Ministry of Education has prepared two reports that will be transferred to the Ministry of Territorial Policy to initiate dialogue with the Generalitat within the bilateral commission “to try to reach an agreement within the framework of the state regulations. If a pact is not reached, the government will resort to all mechanisms to guarantee legality.”
The meeting was attended by representatives of the trade unions CCOO, UGT, CSIF, FEUSOCV, FSIE CV, STEPV, professional associations such as the Association of Directors and Directors of Escola Pública del País Valencià (ADEP-PV) or the Association of Directors of IES del País Valencià (ADIESPV) and parents’ associations such as FAMPA.
