The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided together with the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente, the minute of silence called by the Government in condemnation of the latest machista murders that occurred in the first half of July.
In this act, which took place in the Subdelegation of the Government in Alicante, Bernabé said that “the numbers of women killed simply because they were killed are unbearable”. If the cases of Buñol and Alicante are confirmed as murders of gender violence, in the Valencian Community 5 women will have been killed so far this year by their partners or former partners.
“It’s too many times, too many deaths. It is an unacceptable figure that cannot be accepted as a society and as a country,” he said. Barnabas indicated that “today we demand enough”, along with the need to work “jointly and in a coordinated manner among all administrations”. “Sterile confrontations, linguistic games and any trilerism must be set aside in the face of male terrorism, which exists and must be named to combat it,” he said. At the same time, the delegate has also called for the support of the citizens to deal with male violence and, in this regard, has valued “the denunciation when we observe situations of danger. Today we are all a violet dot.” Finally, the delegate thanked the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) for their work. A total of 15,000 women in the Valencian Community are within the VioGen system protected by the FCSE.
The minutes of silence were also held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation and in the subdelegations of Valencia and Castellón.
