The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended the takeover of the new superior chief of police in the Valencian Community, Carlos Gajero. In this event, which was attended by the general director of the Police, Francisco Pardo, and the deputy operational director, José Ángel González, the delegate highlighted the professionalism of Gajero and thanked the outgoing commissioner, Jorge Marti, for his work. The delegate has indicated that “today is a very important day for the Valencian Community, a safe community, which has a great human team that works to give the best image of the Valencian Community and Spain”.
Among the challenges facing the police, Barnabas has highlighted the fight against cybercrime and hate crimes. But also, he added, “violence against women in any of its manifestations, and where the prevention, assistance and protection you give to the victims contribute to the daily fight against it.” The delegate added that “gender violence exists and the first step to combat it is to mention it. And it is essential to be trained to give the greatest protection and the best care to the victims.”
In addition, he recalled that in the coming months the Zapadores Police Complex will be inaugurated, the second largest in Spain and the best equipped in the country. “This investment of almost 30 million euros is much more than a police installation, since it has responded to a historical demand of the city as was the reform and adaptation of this space.”
In this regard, he indicated that “the Government of Spain is aware of the need to provide the National Police with more human resources and with better material resources.” Currently in the Comunitat Valenciana there are “more national police than ever, after reversing the downward trend of the period 2012-2018: 7,200 officers, distributed in police stations located in 30 locations in the three provinces.” The delegate pointed out that “the workforce will continue to expand thanks to the Public Employment Offer of 2024, which provides 2,857 places for the National Police Force.”
