The province of Valencia is the first in Spain in terms of the number of local police forces incorporated into the VioGén System. In total, there are 59 municipalities of which 43 are located in the Civil Guard demarcation. These data are provided by the Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, in the specialized training sessions of the agents who care for victims of gender violence. In this event, Barnabas highlighted the role played by the Security Forces and Corps for the protection of women and “the policies implemented to help them and put a stop to the abusers.” However, he added, “you can’t miss a second in congratulations while a single woman feels in danger.”
The VioGén System brings together the different public institutions that have competence in the field of gender violence and aims to integrate all the information of interest. This system allows the victim to be provided with a personalized security plan with self-protection measures and performs preventive work with automated notifications when any incident or event that may endanger the victim's integrity is detected.
On April 30, 2024, in the C. Valenciana accounted for 13,777 active cases in this system, 15.9% of the national total, 6,095 of them in the province of Valencia.
Training day
The Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in the C. Valenciana and the Civil Guard Command have jointly organized, once again, the training action on gender violence. Training for officers of this body and members of the local police forces of the province who are members of the System for the Comprehensive Monitoring of Cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System), as well as other municipal police officers who wish to join. This technical day, which was attended by the delegate of the Government, the Chief General of the Sixth Zone, Arturo Prieto, and the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Valencia, José Rodríguez Jury, was attended by around 130 civil guards.
The objective of the day is the specialized and permanent training of the agents who care for the victims of gender violence, as well as those who, by their fate, have or may have direct contact with the victims of these crimes. Among other aspects, the new instructions of the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior on supervised inactivation of cases have been revised, and emphasis has been placed on aspects such as good practices in the reception of complaints, or recent developments in the ATENPRO Service.
The presentations have been given by members of the Civil Guard assigned to the UOPJ of the València Command and the VioGén Teams of the Swedish and Sagunto Companies, as well as the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation. In addition, this edition was attended by the Justice Judge of the Violence against Women Court No. 1 of Sweden, José Luis Mendoza, who has dedicated his intervention to judicial proceedings in the field of gender violence, from an eminently practical point of view.
