The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has valued “the word as a fundamental tool of politics”, while claiming “to bury insult and disqualification as the only way to confront political approaches”. The Government of Spain, key in the Valencian transformation in the Manuel Broseta Meeting Club, has made “an appeal to responsibility. To abandon frentist positions and seek the meeting points.” “We must put aside the hyperbole,” he said, “and resume dialogue in order to work with our gaze on the people to whom we owe ourselves, who are our fellow citizens.”
Bernabé “before the bitter campaign” suffered by the president and his family and before the decision taken today by Pedro Sánchez, has indicated that “democrats, of any political sign, must take a step forward. Saying enough to regenerate our democracy” In Spain, he added, “all the red lines have been crossed. It has gone further than ever and we have to say it clearly. As hard as it sounds, it’s the truth: we’re playing coexistence.” For this reason, “we cannot leave the ground to those who understand politics as the art of beating up the political rival with lies and without arguments. Without the word and with the insult,” said Barnabas.
Axes of the policy of the Government of Spain in the “Valencian transformation”
The Government of Spain is having “a fundamental role” in what the delegate has designated as “Valencian transformation”. The executive of Ximo Puig also played a very important role in these changes, which promoted “a social, economic and also reputational reconversion that, for the moment, “doubts that the new Consell will be able to maintain”.
According to Bernabé, the policies of the Government of Spain have been based on four axes: the improvement of competitiveness, the commitment to reindustrialization and strategic infrastructures; the promotion of a more sustainable society; reducing the social gap and the promotion of culture.
In addition, “the transformation of the productive model is also linked to the elimination of the salary gap, to the incorporation of women into the boards of directors,” he stressed. In short: “To bet on women as a guarantee of success for economic transformation”.
Improved competitiveness
“Reindustrialization has become a primary policy for the Government of Spain,” said Bernabé. For this reason, policies have been implemented that “accelerate this reconversion through the PERTE with direct aid and with investment in key infrastructures for the Valencian Community”. In this sense, he recalled that “the Next Generation Funds already constitute a tractor axis of the Valencian economy. To date, 5,943 million euros of these funds have already reached 66,369 awardees.”
In relation to strategic infrastructures, “the Government of Spain has responded to the demands of the business fabric and Valencian society”, a bet that has been concretized “with facts and investments”. Thus, he referred to the northern extension of the port of València or the “unprecedented” impulse of the Mediterranean Corridor, of which in the last five years more than 6,300 M€ have been awarded, 4,800 M€ have been awarded and actions worth 2,513 M€ have been executed.
Ecological transition
The delegate highlighted “the commitment to sustainable mobility of the Government of Spain”, which translates into the 285 million earmarked for aid to metropolitan public transport and for the financing of bike lanes and the implementation of low-emission areas. “All of these actions for which the Government of Spain has allocated, in the city of Valencia alone, 75 million euros”. This commitment “should be accompanied by municipal policies so that these changes are profound, lasting and effective,” he said.
In this sense, he stressed, “we cannot undo the path already traveled and even less so when the direction taken goes against what Europe marks”. Therefore, the Government of Spain “is going to be very alert that the pedestrian areas are not reversed, nor the bike lanes nor is it cut in public transport to give more space to the private car”.
Consolidation and expansion of social rights
The Government’s agenda “remains the shield” of the rights of the Welfare State. Therefore, this legislature, the Executive “has set housing as a priority.” The new Housing Law limits rent increases and the public protection housing plan will mean, thanks to the 108 million from the Next Generation Funds, the construction of 2,363 homes in the Valencian Community. “To address such a complex problem as housing, we need unity of action between administrations,” he said. For this reason, he has reiterated to the President of the Generalitat that “make effective the tool offered by the Housing Law and declare municipalities such as València or Alicante stressed areas in order to limit the price of housing”.
On the other hand, Barnabas has made an appeal to isolate the discourses that call into question “from places of responsibility” male violence. “It is urgent to return to consensus and the united struggle against this scourge.” Since 2003, 1,253 women in Spain, 157 of them in the Valencian Community, have been murdered by their partners or former partners.
Nor will the Spanish Government “agree to rewrite the dictatorship to the whim of a few, whitewashing Franco’s regime and trampling on the memory and dignity of the victims of the dictatorship.” Thus, he said, “we will not consent to the so-called Concordia autonomy laws tarnishing the dignity they deserve.”
Bernabé recalled that “thanks to the policies of the Government”, 193,000 Valencian workers have benefited from the increase in the SMI; the revaluation of pensions has had an impact on more than 934,000 people and about 251,000 Valencians have benefited from the IMV. He has also asked the president of the Generalitat to “reconsider and repair the cuts already applied in some social policies and abandon victimism and confrontation with the Government” because the Central Executive “is the best ally for the Valencian Community”.
Cultural transformation
Bernabé has highlighted the government’s “evident” commitment “to our language, Valencian, and our culture” as demonstrated, among other measures, the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture in the commemoration of the Centenary of Estellés, or the more than 100,000 young Valencians who have benefited from the Cultural Voucher. The delegate has asked that “we do not return to an affluent, neutral, grey and monolingual culture”.
Finally, it has highlighted the work of the State Security Forces and Bodies that “guarantee the exercise of rights and freedoms” and security in the Valencian Community. For this reason, he has warned “of the messages that are launched from certain forums because the security enjoyed in the Valencian Community is a fundamental factor for attracting investments and positions us better than other territories”.
