The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has held a meeting with the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, the first since President Pedro Sánchez configured his new executive. In this meeting, the delegate highlighted “the will of the Government of Spain to work in a coordinated and loyal manner with the Generalitat to promote the good pace of growth of the Valencian Community, which has been a reference at the national level for years”. In this regard, the delegate said that “the Government of Spain will continue to work so that the Valencian Community maintains its levels of excellence and to improve the life of all citizens”.
Bernabé stressed that “today we have the most Valencian Government in history, not only because of the people but also because of the areas they occupy that are strategic for Valencians and Valencians”. This is the case, as he said, of Minister Diana Morant, responsible for Science, Innovation and Universities; the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas; the Secretary of State for Industry, Rebeca Torró; the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain; the Secretary of State for Sport, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribe or the President of Adif, Ángel Contreras, who “occupy fundamental areas for the development of the Comunitat”.
The delegate has conveyed to her “the commitment of the Government for the economic and social development of the Valencian Community without regressing in any type of rights”.
He also indicated that “the Government together with the Generalitat will work in a coordinated way in the development of the Next Generation Funds” Thus, he stressed, the existence of many projects linked to sustainability and respect for the environment that marks the 2030 Agenda. “Valencians and Valencians,” he said, “we need these objectives to be met and the government will work to ensure that this is the case.”
Combating gender-based violence
The delegate said that for the Government of Spain it is a question of “absolute commitment” to the fight against gender violence in which “there can be not a single step backwards”. In this regard, he said that the relationship with the second vice-president of the Council and Councilor for Social Services, Equality and Housing, Susana Camarero, “is excellent”. However, “there are certain discourses that generate the feeling of regression.” “Denying gender violence is throwing gasoline at a fire that we are trying to put out,” he said, calling for “the president’s commitment to avoid backward steps.”
In other issues, where “there will be agreement”, it is in the development of infrastructures. In this regard, it has indicated that the Government of Spain has developed investments of more than 5,000 M€ in the Valencian Community. Among them, he has highlighted, the actions carried out in the Mediterranean Corridor, which already has 86% of the route in progress.
Bernabé concluded by stressing that the Government and the Generalitat “have a lot of work to do, but the will and the spirit is of coordination and institutional loyalty.”
