The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, Miguel Polo, has presented to the communities of irrigators the day of the PERTE of digitalization of the water cycle.
This PERTE, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, has a budget of 3,000 M€. Of these, €100M is aimed at improving the competitiveness and sustainability of irrigation in order to “offer a better agri-food product”, according to the Government delegate. In this event, Bernabé recalled that the communities of regents have until December 13 to present their projects.
In addition, the delegate stressed that for the Government of Spain “water is a priority in the actions that can be inserted within the Recovery Plan”.
Bernabé has indicated that in a context of climate change it is “essential to correctly manage the use of water that in our territory is a challenge that we must face on a daily basis”.
That is why this PERTE is “fundamental since it promotes the use of new technologies in the integral water cycle”. This will allow, as he said, “to improve water management, increase efficiency, reduce losses in supply networks and advance in the fulfillment of environmental objectives.”
The Valencian Community currently participates, through companies, entities and public administrations, in 8 PERTEs with funding close to €300M for more than 160 projects.
