The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the first phase of the rehabilitation of the Camí de l´Aigua de Vall d´Uixó together with the mayor of the city, Tania Baños.
The works have a budget of 1.4 million euros, of which 1M€ has been contributed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of the Next Generation funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.
In this visit, the delegate stressed that these works, whose first phase is practically completed, represent a “clear commitment to sustainable mobility” in line with the European position of reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality. Bernabé highlighted “the success in the work carried out by the City Council of this city, which has done the duties of preparing projects and which thanks to them can address the future challenges of an ecological and environmental transformation to achieve the challenges of the 2030 Agenda”.
The first phase of the project will connect the two old hulls of the municipality. In addition, they will humanize the urban space and improve air quality.
Also, Barnabas stressed that the works are being carried out in areas of historical and patrimonial value and with tourist potential, so “in addition to creating a pleasant, safe and comfortable space for the pedestrian, they value the Camí de l’Aigua as a tourist attraction”.
As the delegate recalled, the province of Castellón has received €140M from the Next Generation funds and, of these, the Vall d’Uixó has already received around €14M. These figures, said the delegate “represent a management success on the part of the City Council”.
