· The Valencian Community “cannot take a step backwards” in the fight against gender violence, said the delegate of the Government
· Barnabas chairs the first coordination meeting of the VIOGEN System to improve victim care
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided over the coordination meeting, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior, of the VIOGEN System. The Valencian Community opens the agenda of institutional visits of the Secretary of State for Security, through the Coordination Units against Violence against Women attached to the Government Delegations of all of Spain. The objective of this meeting is, according to Barnabas, “to generate synergies of work between the institutions, with the objective of improving the attention to women victims of gender violence”.
The delegate of the Government stressed that the Valencian Community “has been a reference in the fight against gender violence”. As he added, “police effectiveness and victim care data, obtained thanks to institutional coordination, have been recognized throughout Spain.” For this reason, he has pointed out that “you cannot take a step backwards”. Bernabé has said that the Government of Spain will continue to work in a coordinated manner but in parallel “will be vigilant so that everyone complies” with the measures to eradicate male violence.
According to the data provided by the delegate, the Valencian Community is “a reference in protection and care for women victims of gender violence”. Thus, the Valencian Community is the second community in the number of active cases in Spain in the VIOGEN System, only behind Andalusia. For its part, the province of Castellón, with more than 2,280 active cases, exceeds in active cases the communities of Aragón, Asturias, Cantabria, Extremadura, Navarra and La Rioja. In addition, in the Comunitat, all municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants are incorporated into the system, being the second autonomous community, after Andalusia, in local police forces adhered to. The province of Valencia, with 58, is the one with the most agreements signed in all of Spain; and the province of Alicante, with 49, the third.
As for the state resources available to victims, the Valencian Community ranks third within Spain as the point of origin of calls to 016, with 7,331 received as of August 31, 10.2% of the total calls from the whole of the national territory. In the ATENPRO service, the Comunitat leads the use of this service. As of August 31, the Comunitat had 3,470 active users (1,718 in València; 1,360 in Alicante and 392 in Castellón). On the COMETA DEVICES, as of August 31, the Valencian Community had 553 active devices, which places us as second autonomy in the national eremu with active installed devices.
