The Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited together with the Head of Service and Projects and Works of the Coastal Demarcation of Valencia of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Eugenio Jiménez, the restoration works of the beaches of southern Valencia that have been started on the beach of l'Arbre del Gos and have a budget of 28 million euros.
The sand transfer that began last Thursday will involve the distribution of more than three million cubic meters of sand along seven kilometers of coast between Pinedo and the Gola de Puchol with which it will be possible to “recover the physiognomy that the coast had in the 70’s”, according to the delegate.
The dredger that is carrying out the sand extraction work of the submarine bank located between Cullera and Sueca is “the third largest in the world”, according to the head of the Costas demarcation. When the works of the dredger are finished, the dunar regeneration works will begin “with which the contribution of sand will be protected”, added the delegate.
Barnabas also recalled that once the tasks of the dredger are completed on October 20, he will move to the coasts in front of Denia to start new regeneration work. “This is,” said the delegate, “a clear example of the Government’s commitment to the recovery of the beaches of the Valencian Community and commitment to environmental defense.”
