The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presented the 85 new civil guards in practice, of which 21 are women, for the province of Alicante, together with the colonel of the Command of Alicante, José Hernández, and the subdelegate of the Government, Carlos Sánchez.
In this act, the delegate recalled that these new agents that will reinforce the special device of Operation Summer, “will remain in practice until they are promoted as professional guards.” They are joined by two foreign police officers (a gendarme of the French police and a German police officer) who will also collaborate in this special operation.
In the Valencian Community, the Ministry of the Interior has established a total of 7,860 agents for Operation Summer, 3,602 national police and 4,258 civil guards. In the case of the province of Alicante, the total number of personnel for the summer operation is 2,897, of which 1,614 are agents of the Civil Guard and 1,283 of the National Police. It is, as Barnabas said, “a record figure that has materialized thanks to the commitment to public safety.”
The delegate recalled the five successive offers of public employment convened on the joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function and the Ministry of the Interior, all of them with replacement rates greater than one hundred percent that have favored that in the Valencian Community has been reached “the historical maximum of agents of the State Security Forces and Corps with 14,800 troops”.
During these days, the latest promotions of agents who have passed the initial training process in the academies are being incorporated. These additions will make it possible to reinforce the planned deployment for Operation Summer that began on July 1 and will extend until August 31 in the Valencian Community. This operation includes the increase of surveillance in strategic points for tourism such as stations, ports, hotels, beaches and campsites.
Bernabé stressed that “with Operation Summer special attention is paid to the tourism sector, one of the most important of the Spanish economic activity”. With this, it is transmitted to the tourist, both national and foreign, that “the Valencian Community is a safe destination that offers a tranquil environment for those who choose it as a destination”.
The delegate concluded by pointing out that the "great challenges" facing the State Security Forces and Bodies are cybercrime, hate crimes and gender violence. In this last aspect, Barnabas pointed out "that in the face of those who deny it, male violence exists and must be named to confront it as the Civil Guard and the National Police do."
