The first special operation of summer 2023 takes place in the Valencian Community from 15:00 hours on this Friday, June 30, until 24:00 hours on Sunday, July 2. For this reason, special regulatory and traffic management measures will be established these days that will affect the territorial scope of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia.
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, who has visited the Traffic Management Center, has pointed out that during the summer 21,850,000 long-distance trips on the roads of the C.Valenciana, 23% of the national total that reaches 95,000,000 million. Pilar Bernabé has called for the prudence of all drivers. The delegate has indicated that “it is necessary to respect the speed established on each track, maintain safety distances, turn off the mobile and wear the safety belt or child restraint system in the case of minors”. He has also considered it “fundamental” to rest every two hours in the case of long journeys.
As the delegate recalled, one of the novelties of this summer, is that from July 1, the use of hazard pre-signaling triangles on motorways and motorways in case of immobilisation of the vehicle due to accident or breakdown is exempt. Its use remains mandatory when these circumstances occur in conventional ways.
In addition, as he added, the operation has “the full availability of the means”, both human (agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, official personnel of the Traffic Management Centers, helicopter patrols and personnel in charge of the maintenance of equipment and the installation of measures on the road), as well as technicians (fixed radars and mobile speed control, in addition to helicopters, drones, cameras and camouflaged vans to control the use of mobile and the safety belt) available to the DGT.
Likewise, the works on the roads will be paralyzed, the celebration of sports tests and other events that suppose the occupation of the road will be limited and the circulation of trucks in general and those who transport dangerous goods, as well as special transports in certain sections, dates and times will be restricted.
In the first half of the year, fatal accidents in the Valencian Community decreased by 5% (35 fatal accidents in 2023 and 37, in 2022) and 17%, the fatalities (35 deaths in 2023 and 42, in 2022) in relation to the same period of the previous year.
