These are literary encounters in independent bookshops between two creators who write in different languages of Spain
The initiative, organized for the fourth consecutive year by the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, is aimed at boosting the activity of independent bookshops and supporting literary creation.
A total of ten bookshops of the Valencian Community will host during the months of June to October meetings between writers within the ‘Elective Affinities’ program, organized by the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading Ministry of Culture and Sport.
The initiative, launched in 2020 through the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading, brings together two authors who write in different languages of Spain in independent libraries to talk about their similarities, divergences or connections.

The objectives are, on the one hand, to promote the activity in independent libraries and, on the other hand, to support literary creation in all the official languages of Spain, valuing the linguistic plurality of our country, favoring the dialogue between the different languages and contributing to the dissemination of literatures from different territories.
Libraries from 14 autonomous communities have presented their proposals, which they host from June 15 to October 15. It is the bookstores that, depending on their interested public, their fund and their line of programming activities, have proposed the participation of creators and creators.
