The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, held a meeting with the Association of Textile Entrepreneurs of the Valencian Community (ATEVAL) in which she reiterated "the firm commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the Valencian textile sector" that represents 23% of this industry in Spain and that generates more than 20,000 jobs in the C.Valenciana. The delegate has also visited several partner companies.
Bernabé recalled that since the Government Delegation “there was a commitment to work with the inclusion of textile, fried and enamel finishes in the package of aid to the gas intensive industry”, and “that has been, as announced by President Sánchez”. These grants are included in the ICO guarantee lines of 500M€ for which the beneficiary companies will have loans with a guarantee of up to 90% to mitigate their liquidity problems and the specific line of 450M€ of direct grants.
The delegate also said that one of the objectives of the Government is “the reindustrialization of the country in a green and digital key”. To this end, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan includes measures such as the PERTEs “to modernize and boost the competitiveness of strategic sectors of the Spanish economy, such as textiles”. In this line, he has indicated that the Circular Economy PERTE has items reserved for the textile industry for a total of 100 M€ to finance investment in infrastructures, technologies or waste management of textile companies, R+D+I actions and incorporate low-impact, recycled or renewable raw materials. In addition, this PERTE also contemplates 192 million euros in aid to improve the competitiveness and innovation of companies.
At the same time, the PERTE for Decarbonization of the Industry foresees a public investment of 3,100 M€ that will allow to mobilize up to 11,800 M€ of total investment, and that will create about 8,000 jobs nationwide. The objective of the PERTE is to achieve the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and improve the energy efficiency of the industry with more sustainable processes that contribute to improving its international competitiveness (an increase of 10% of improvement).
Bernabé said that “textiles have demonstrated their ability to adapt to future challenges”, so he was convinced that “this sector will have great success in the calls for PERTE”.
