The Official State Gazette (BOE) today publishes the agreements signed by the Minister of Territorial Policy and spokeswoman of the Government in office, Isabel Rodríguez, with the presidents of the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, for the creation of the technical offices, which will ensure the maximum dissemination of the funds made available to these territories and which will act as a one-stop shop for information and advice and support to elaborate the projects and proposals of applications, with the aim of achieving the maximum execution of the planned investments.
Currently, there are numerous programs aimed at SMEs and entrepreneurs, supported both by the General State Budgets and by European funds. However, access to these funds requires a certain degree of knowledge and management capacity, which advises creating these offices in Ceuta and Melilla.
The agreements establish that the Ministry of Territorial Policy will invest 1.25 million euros (625,000 euros at the disposal of each city) to create these offices and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla undertake to implement them and provide them with all the necessary human and material resources.
More than 711 million euros of investments in Ceuta and Melilla
The cities of Ceuta and Melilla are territories with unique characteristics and require special attention for geographical particularities, borders, population diversity and assistance and migratory pressure. As a result of the Government’s commitment to the two cities, on October 18, 2022, the Council of Ministers approved the Comprehensive Socio-Economic Development Plans of the City of Ceuta and the City of Melilla.
These plans include an investment until 2026 of approximately 354.6 in Ceuta and 356.7 million euros in Melilla with the objective of ordering the action of the General State Administration (AGE) in the scope of its competences in both cities, to promote its structural transformation through a new economic model and policies of urban, commercial, tourist development, connectivity and the strengthening of public services.
The Plans are structured in three axes of action: new economic model; infrastructures and housing; and reinforcement of public services. Within this last axis is the creation of the Technical Office of Projects in the City of Ceuta and the Technical Office of Projects in the City of Melilla, which already have free way after the publication of the respective agreements today in the BOE.
