The Government Delegation in Ceuta today hosted a meeting with representatives of the State Security Forces and Corps to address issues related to gender violence in the city.
So far this year, a total of 193 complaints have been filed with the UFAM of Ceuta (Family and Women Care Unit), 23 more than the same period of the previous year. 80 calls have been made to 016, the Telephone Service of Attention and Protection (ATEMPRO) is currently serving a total of 16 active users and the active cases in VioGén are 214.
Livia Rosales, head of the Gender Violence unit of the Government Delegation, stressed that “it is essential to remember that behind every statistic there is a personal history and human suffering. Each number represents a person who has experienced violence, and in many cases we are not just talking about adults, but about children who suffer gender violence every day in their homes, and our response as a society must be strong.”
In recent months, different actions have been launched to address gender violence in Ceuta, including:
- Strengthening of Prevention: through formative actions.
- Improvement in Victim Care: since accompaniment was included throughout the judicial process.
- Interinstitutional collaboration with all the agents involved.
Rosales insists that “every citizen has a crucial role in this collective effort and from the Gender Violence Unit we call for awareness and action, urging all citizens to denounce any form of gender violence and offer support to those who need it.”
