The port of Ceuta has a sanitation network, mainly of a unitary nature, of small diameter and an average age of 50 years, executed in bulk concrete.
The supply network, mostly made with fibre-cement pipes, has a significant number of leaks and losses, its dimensioning being insufficient in the current conditions of service.
These infrastructures have been completely renovated through the action called “1st Phase of general collector construction on Cañonero Dato Avenue”, which was executed in the year 2022.
This investment includes the construction of a new general sanitation collector in the port area, which will connect the wastewater pumping station -EBAR- of Benítez to the future EBAR that will be located in the Gardens of Argentina of the autonomous city of Ceuta. In this first phase, a collector has been built from the Benítez drive station to the Social Institute of the Navy, leaving for the second phase the continuity to the Gardens of Argentina.
Likewise, the action includes the replacement of the drinking water supply network from the Benitez road to the Social Institute of the Navy.
The section in which the sanitation network has been implemented will coincide with the works of the new supply network, with the aim of optimizing the investment costs.
The work was awarded for an amount of 1,093,948.90 euros, and the first phase is currently finished.
This action is funded by EU funds, specifically the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which have been made available to the Port Authorities by the Government of Spain.
