The Government Delegate, Rafael García, has claimed that the Constitution was born as “a symbol of equality and freedom, and laid the foundations to build the Spain that we are today: a modern, diverse and plural country”. He said so at the event organized on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution that took place this Wednesday in the Throne Room of the Assembly Palace. An event that has been held jointly with the local government and that has also counted on the intervention of the President of the city, Juan Jesús Vivir Lara.
In his speech, Garcia said that “the desire to build a united future, and the generosity on the part of the political parties that represented the plurality of Spanish society in 1977 were key so that Spain could be constituted, during all these years, in a Social and Democratic State of Law that proclaims freedom, equality, justice and political pluralism as superior values of its legal system.”
The Government Delegate has assured that “the Constitution is the instrument with which the next generations will face challenges, expand rights and conquer new achievements, mark the rules in a democracy, identify our rights and duties as citizens and define the basis of our coexistence”.
In addition, Rafael García recalled that “the Constitution was, is and will be the beacon that shows us the path of democratic progress. The constitutional text is not limited to providing an answer to the problems of the past, but is also the instrument with which today’s young people will face challenges, expand rights and achieve achievements. Thus, it will respond to challenges arising from the globalization of the economy, artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability or diversity.”
