January 3, 2023.- The number of unemployed persons registered in the Offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), at the end of December, has decreased by 43,727 persons (-1.52%) in relation to the previous month. Thus, the registered unemployment stood at 2,837,653, moving further away from the barrier of the 2.9 million unemployed people.
Compared to December 2021, year-on-year unemployment has fallen by 268,252 people (-8.64%) in an international economic context that remains marked by uncertainty.
Unemployment by economic sectors
By economic sectors compared to November, the registered unemployment fell in the Services sectors -37,080 (-1.81%), Agriculture - 4,922 (-4.16%) and in the No Previous Employment group it fell by -7,155 (-2.82%).
It barely undergoes variation in Industry, specifically of 275 people (0.12%) and increases in Construction, which indicates 5,155 more people in an unemployment situation (2.32%).
Unemployment by sex and age
Female unemployment fell by 37,411 women (-2.17%) compared to the month of November, to a total of 1,690,148.
Male unemployment stands at 1,147,505, falling by 6,316 men (-0.55%).
Unemployment among young people under 25 years of age fell in December by 12,185 people (-5.86%) compared to the previous month. Unemployment of 25 years and older fell by 31,542 (-1.18%). The total number of young unemployed is 195,751, the lowest in the historical series.
Unemployment by Autonomous Communities
The unemployment recorded in December 2022 fell in 13 Autonomous Communities, the falls in the most notable absolute figures occur in: Andalusia (-22,280 people), Community of Madrid (-6,782 people) and Canary Islands (-3,124).
Contract data
The total number of contracts registered during the month of December was 1,189,917. Of this total, 464,152 employment contracts are of an indefinite nature and account for 39% of all contracts. In absolute terms, there are 290,368 indefinite contracts more than in the same month of 2021.
During the year 2022, a total of 18,310,343 contracts were signed, 4,201,878 contracts less (-18.7%) than in the same period of 2019, one of the expected effects, in terms of stability, after the implementation of the Labor Reform.
Of this total, 7,027,160 are open-ended contracts until December 2022, a figure that represents an increase of 4,913,819 over the same period of the year 2021. The total number of temporary contracts is 11,283,183.
It should be noted that nearly five million more open-ended contracts (4,867,726) and nine million fewer temporary contracts (9,069,604) have been signed than in 2019, the year before the pandemic. Of these, the contract that has increased the most has been the indefinite ordinary full-time contract (1.7 million more).
Unemployment benefits for the month of November
The existing beneficiaries at the end of the month were 1,799,838, with a decrease from the same month of the previous year of 1.2%. The total expenditure for November 2022 amounted to 1,743.4 million euros.
The average monthly expenditure per beneficiary, not including the agricultural subsidy of Andalusia and Extremadura, in the month of November 2022 has been 991.2 euros.
