More than 200 Segovian schoolchildren in 6th grade receive the Cyberexpert@ card
Formed by National Police
May 23, 2024. A total of 207 schoolchildren in 6th grade received the Cyberexpert@ card this Thursday in an event presided over by the government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, and held at the IES Andrés Laguna. Sen has been accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in Segovia, Marian Rueda; the Chief Commissioner of the National Police, Miguel Ángel Martínez, and the Director General of Innovation and Teacher Training, Luis Domingo González, among other authorities.
During his speech, the government delegate stressed how the digital world “has revolutionized our way of communicating”, but also how “this new situation is not without dangers”. In this regard, he has pointed out that, according to the latest crime data in Castilla y León, one in three crimes is committed in cyberspace. “Now, thanks to the training carried out by the National Police, you know much better the digital world, its dangers and the need to use the tools offered by the Internet from security,” he said.
Sen has stressed the important and necessary work that schools, teachers, parents and institutional representatives must carry out in a coordinated way to protect minors from the risks arising from new technologies. He also thanked the National Police Force for its work and for the implementation of programmes such as this, which ensure the safety of the most vulnerable groups.
CYBEREXPERT PROGRAM@
The Cyberexpert@ program, which was created in 2016 by the Central Citizen Participation Unit of the General Commissariat of the National Police and which is supported by Telefónica, seeks to train students in the safe use of the Internet and information and communication technologies.
In this way, its purpose is twofold: to sensitize minors to minimize the risks inherent in the use of ICT and to facilitate the tools for safer navigation.
To obtain the Cyberexpert@ card, students have had to pass an exam after following a training itinerary of ten topics, of one hour each, taught by agents of the National Police.
The topics are ‘Digital identity’, ‘Netiqueta’, ‘Social networks’, ‘Identity theft’, ‘Cyberbullying’, ‘Sexting’, ‘Grooming’, ‘Technoaddictions’, ‘App, games and inappropriate content’ and ‘Resources and links’.
The information and training material of the program can be found on the web www.ciberexperto.org, where it is also possible to file complaints of risk situations on the network, especially related to minors.
The more than 200 students who have received the cyberexpert card are studying in six schools in the city of Segovia: CEIP Eresma, CEIP Carlos de Lecea, CEIP San José, Mothers Conceptionists, Cooperativa Alcázar and Los Maristas.
Those interested in participating in the cyberexpert@ program can request it through three channels: the Central Citizen Participation Unit (cgsc.pdirector@policia.es), the Citizen Participation delegate or the email address followed by gluing@policia.es. Once the application is received, the Citizen Participation delegate goes to the schools that have requested it in order to hold a meeting to explain the project in more detail and set the dates to develop the program.
