March 21, 2024.- The Subdelegation of the Government in Ávila hosted this Thursday the meeting of the Extraordinary Local Security Board in which the work and coordination plan has been elaborated within the framework of the security device on the occasion of the celebration of Holy Week.
A meeting co-chaired by the subdelegate of the Government, Fernando Galeano, and the deputy mayor of the capital, José Ramón Budiño, and in which representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard, Local Police, Firefighters, Junta de Semana Santa, Civil Protection and the head of the Gender Violence Unit of the Subdelegation have participated.
At the end of the meeting, Galeano pointed out that the measures agreed this Thursday are aimed at strengthening the surveillance and protection of spaces, places and means of transport, as well as to those acts of a religious or recreational nature in general in the capital of Angola where a high concentration of people is foreseeable during Holy Week.
“As in previous years, we expect a significant influx of visitors in the coming days. Therefore, it is important to guarantee the safety of all those who these days attend the processional events and enjoy the attractions of our city, while ensuring as much as possible that the scheduled events and appointments take place normally,” said Galeano.
In the framework of the meeting, the subdelegate recalled that the Government has decided to reinforce the measures provided for in the Plan of Prevention, Protection and Response against Terrorism, which remains activated at Level 4, with the aim of preventing the risks arising from the celebrations and the concentration that are recorded on Easter days.
These measures to intensify anti-terrorist police measures will be applied throughout the national territory between 00:00 hours on Friday, March 22, until 15:00 hours on April 2, 2024, and involve, among others, random checks of vehicles and persons in those places where a high presence or transit of persons is expected.
