February 15, 2024.- Social Security registered 77,667 foreign affiliates in Castilla y León, after adding 1,889 employees in February (2.49%) and 8,246 in the last twelve months (11.88%).
Of the total in the Community, 38.9% of workers come from countries of the European Union. The most numerous nationals are from Romania, Morocco, Bulgaria, Colombia, Venezuela and Portugal. Of the group, there are about 43,000 men and the number of women is approaching 35,000.
At the national level, the Social Security registered 2,762,085 foreign affiliates in February, once the seasonality and the calendar effect were discounted. It is the highest level of contributors of foreign origin, after adding 25,916 affiliates in the last month. Since February 2020, before the impact of the pandemic, the system has recorded an increase of 599,686 workers from other countries.
In February, this figure represented 13.2% of the total number of Social Security participants in seasonally adjusted terms.
In average terms and without seasonality, that is, in the original series, Social Security registered 2,671,546 foreign affiliates, after adding 39,953 employed in February (1.5%) and 205,303 in the last twelve months (8.3%). It is also the month with the most foreign affiliates in average terms.
The percentage of foreign workers in the total number of people affiliated to Social Security is 12.9% in the original series.
Of the total, 32.4% are workers from countries of the European Union. The most numerous nationals are from Romania, Morocco, Colombia, Italy and Venezuela.
Overall, there are about 1.5 million men and the number of women is approaching 1.2 million. It should be noted that the number of female foreign affiliates has grown by 26.7% since before the pandemic, 1.8 points more than men.
66,510 Ukrainian affiliates
Among other nationalities, there are 66,510 affiliates from Ukraine throughout Spain. This is 19,251 more than in January 2022, when the war had not yet begun, which represents a growth of 40.7%.
The majority of workers from Ukraine, about 85.3%, are in the General System (they are salaried) and 14.7% are self-employed.
Regimes and sectors
Overall, 87.48% of foreign affiliates in Castilla y León fell within the General Regime, with 67,944 workers. For its part, the Autonomous System counted 9,723 foreign affiliates, that is, 12% of the total number of entrepreneurs.
In Spain, 83.5% of foreign affiliates fell within the General Regime, with 2,231,303 workers, which increases by 1.6% compared to January 2024.
In the last 12 months, ten sectors of activity have grown at a rate of more than 10%. Hospitality is the activity that has added the most (13.9%), followed by Health Activities (11.3%), Construction (11.2%), Financial Activities (10.6%), Commerce (10.3%) and Information and Communications (10%). Scientific and Technical Activities grew by 8.45%.
By activity, domestic workers from other countries account for more than 20% of the total membership in Hospitality (26.5%), Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Fisheries (24.7%), and Construction (20.5%). In the Special Household System, 45.5% are foreign workers, and in the Special Agrarian System, 34.6%.
For its part, the Autonomous System counted 435,797 foreign affiliates, that is, 13% of the total number of entrepreneurs. In the last year, foreign affiliates in this regime have increased by 6.9%.
