March 14, 2024.- The government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, has presided over the act of taking possession of Roberto González de Julián as local commissioner of the National Police of Ponferrada, to which he has transferred the commitment of the Government of Spain to strengthen the means of the Corps.
An institutional and emotional act in which the new commissioner has been supported by the government delegate in Castilla y León, the superior head of the National Police in Castilla y León, the principal commissioner Juan Carlos Hernández, the subdelegate of the government in León, Faustino Sánchez, and the provincial chief commissioner of León, Miguel Ángel del Diego Ballesteros, in addition to numerous civil and military authorities of the province.
Sen wanted to thank the Chief Inspector José Fernando Rodríguez, who for two years served as acting Commissioner, while appealing to the members of the Ponferrada Police Station to continue walking along the path of the last 200 years that have made the National Police one of the institutions most valued by society.
Two centuries of history in which the National Police has been able to evolve and adapt to the challenges of each era without losing sight of its principles and values, born of the effort and sacrifice of its members, resulting in an “effective” response to the demands of all citizens.
A work that has made Castilla y León, León and El Bierzo territories with crime rates below the national average, in a country among the safest in the world. Figures that, Sen said, should serve as a stimulus to continue working and reduce the level of crime even further, guaranteeing citizen security.
NEW CHALLENGES
The delegate stressed the need to continue working tirelessly against gender violence, tackle hate crimes and the constant increase in cybercrime and ensure the protection of people and their rights, especially the most vulnerable.
Challenges for which it will have the collaboration of the Civil Guard, Armed Forces, personnel of the Ministry of Justice and the Government Delegation in Castilla y León. In this regard, Sen has highlighted the “public and notorious” commitment of the Government to the Corps, “not only because the personnel have been recovered but because the necessary means are being put in place to provide the service in dignified conditions.”
An act that materializes the return to ‘home’ of a Leonese, who after swearing in 2000 of his position as inspector, was part of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of the Superior Headquarters of Catalonia, developed most of his career in Madrid, as investigative inspector in the Kidnapping and Extortion Section, head of the Kidnapping Group, head of the Robbery Group, head of the National Negotiation Team and head of the Operational Section of the Internal Affairs Unit.
25 years of experience that have earned him numerous awards, which “are faithful to the reflection of your involvement and dedication to police service and citizenship, which will now guide you in the responsibility of ensuring the safety of all those who live and visit this city and this region. Never forget that from your position you must encourage and encourage your colleagues, they are already the most valuable capital of the National Police”, concluded the delegate.
