February 29, 2024.- The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) reached in February in Castilla y León to 24,236 households in which 72,188 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). It is the first time that the number of active IMV benefits is published at a given time with the aim of providing more detailed information on the evolution of this benefit, which has an average amount of approximately 500 euros per household this month.
This new statistic will be published monthly and includes the data of the monthly payroll, the accumulated data, as well as a complete dossier disaggregated by province, which includes disaggregation by types of households, amounts or holders of the benefit, among others.
In the last year, there has been a considerable increase in both the number of households and beneficiaries of the IMV, which add up the holder and the people who are part of their coexistence unit. In the case of households, it is received by 4,740 more than a year ago, which represents an increase of 24.31% compared to February 2023, while the number of beneficiaries shows a year-on-year variation of 27.75% with 15,681 more beneficiaries.
In cumulative terms since June 2020, when it was launched, the Minimum Vital Income has reached 34,500 Castilian and Leonese households and benefited the 100,659 people who were part of them, largely children and adolescents, which represents 43.45% of the total beneficiaries.
Female, Spanish and 45 years old
If we follow the characteristics of the owner, from the data published today it emerges that two thirds are women, specifically 63.5%. In addition, 83.8% of all holders are of Spanish nationality and their average age is 45 years, regardless of whether we find VMI holders of all age ranges from 24 years, including 378 with more than 65 years.
In a large proportion, cohabitation units are homes with minors, specifically 67.02% have one or more of their components (16,242). Among them, there are 4,233 single-parent households, 26.06% of the number of families with minors.
The Child Support Supplement (API) is a support of 115 euros per household per month for children from 0 to 3 years old; 80.5 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years old and 57.5 euros per month for each child between 6 and 18 years old.
Comprehensive Plan for Minimum Vital Income Accessibility
The publication of the new statistics responds to the Comprehensive Plan of Accessibility to the IMV that the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, announced on Monday during the IMV event: a more lively policy than ever.
One of the three pillars of the plan is based on transparency, in addition to speeding up the processes - for which it is going to guarantee interoperability between the administrations of documents that are already in their possession or have been prepared by them, for example - and a proximity and accessibility that includes from a review of the website and the application forms for the provision, to the implementation of a short number for the IMV -the 020-in the summer that will bring with it a 40% increase in the staff of the INSS.
“We want to remove barriers and move closer to households at risk of exclusion,” said Minister Elma Saiz. “We have unveiled new proposals and measures that improve access to the service and I am committed to redoubling efforts to reach where we are not reaching,” he added.
