The Government of Spain submits to public information the environmental impact study of the modernization of the Ines and Eza irrigation
It is an action that is executed thanks to the PRTR so that 80 percent of the cost will be contributed by the funds of the Spain Plan.
February 29, 2024.- The Official State Gazette (BOE) of today publishes the Resolution of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) by which it is agreed to submit to public information the Environmental Impact Study and the "Irrigation Modernization Project in the Irrigated Communities of the Channel of Ines and the Canal of Eza".
This modernization is an action included in the Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with the State Commercial Society of Agrarian Infrastructures (SEIASA) in relation to the irrigation modernization works of the “Plan for the improvement of efficiency and sustainability in irrigation” included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, financed with Next Generation EU funds.
The public consultation period for this action of the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training of the MAPA is thirty working days, counted from the day following the date of publication of this resolution in the BOE.
The objective of the action is the modernization of these irrigated areas of the province of Soria. It affects 1,495 hectares of total surface. The action consists of the execution of an MV power line and a photovoltaic generator that feed a pumping station, which in turn takes the water from the Ines channel and a regulation pond to be pumped to the irrigation network and to a high accumulation pond by means of a drive pipe.
The pressurized irrigation network has a remote sensing system. The project is completed with low-voltage electrical installations and automated tapping at the azud. The investment amounts to 18 million euros.
This action, being framed in the Spain Can Plan, has a public contribution of 80 percent of the cost of eligible expenses, while the community of irrigators will pay the remaining 20 percent.
