February 8, 2024.- The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has prepared an estimate of the territorial, sectoral, gender and age distribution of the beneficiaries who will receive the increase approved in the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, February 6, of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2024.
This increase will increase payrolls to 1,134 euros per month in 14 payouts and, according to this calculation, involves about 2,466,000 working people.
The information has been obtained from the microdata analysis of the Active Population Survey (EPA) of 2022 with salaries of the main job.
After adjusting the salary increases of 2023, the data of beneficiaries with salary benefits, in the terms described, lower than the SMI agreed with the trade union organizations for 2024 are offered.
SMI by autonomous communities
Andalusia (510,500), Community of Madrid (387,300), Valencian Community (306,400) and Catalonia (300,100) are the communities that group around half of the beneficiaries.
In percentage terms, the increase in the SMI will benefit 14.4% of salaried people. Extremadura (21.7%), the Canary Islands (21.5%) and Murcia, with 20.1% of salaried people exceeding the average number of working people receiving the SMI.
