Nicanor Sen meets with the coordinator of Violence against Women Units of Castilla y León to define awareness and prevention actions in the coming months
Combating gender-based violence
January 30, 2024.- The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, met this Tuesday with the coordinator of Violence Units on Women of the Government Delegation of Castilla y León, Jessica Martínez Sánchez, with whom he has defined the programming of training, awareness and prevention actions against all forms of violence on women to be developed both from the Delegation itself and from the various Government Subdelegations in the Community in the coming months.
In this sense, they have opted to design a transversal and long-term strategy that includes training sessions that emphasize the young population in order to prevent sexual violence, cyberviolence and the worrying increase in the consumption of pornography.
To this end, the Violence against Women Units are financed by the central Government thanks to the renewal of the agreement between the Ministry of Equality and the Ministry of Territorial Policy, which provides for a credit transfer of one million euros to the Delegations and Sub-Delegations with an amount allocated for Castilla y León of just over 150,000 euros, 15% of the national total.
In the short term, and coinciding with the commemoration on March 8 of International Women’s Day, a letter will be sent to all local entities to remind them of the more than five million euros that are allocated to the municipalities of the Community from the funds of the State Pact against Gender Violence to carry out actions that visit this day.
Nicanor Sen, in the framework of his firm commitment to this fight, wants to urge all the municipalities of Castilla y León that have local police forces and that have not yet adhered to the VioGen system to rub this collaboration “within the commitment of all institutions, without exception, to achieve the desired goal of zero violence through full collaboration between institutions.”
Likewise, among the objectives is to establish dialogue with different entities and agencies such as the public universities of Castilla y León to open avenues of collaboration and new lines of work, in addition to continuing to work with the regional administration for the definition of the new coordination protocols that govern the operation of the Comprehensive Care Centers for Victims of Sexual Violence that is planned to be created this year in each of the provinces thanks to the financing of the Government of Spain, which will allocate funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
