Ángel Blanco values in Burganes de Valverde the action of the Government to combat the digital divide with the RuralTIC program
The subdelegate in Zamora visits the workshops in the old schools
January 22, 2024.- The Subdelegate of the Government in Zamora, Ángel Blanco, made a visit this Wednesday to the City of Burganes de Valverde, where he attended the sessions given by the digital nomads of the RuralTIC program, with which the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility promotes the digitalization of the rural world.
During his visit, the deputy delegate was accompanied by the mayor, Christopher Ferrero, whom he thanked for his collaboration with this initiative of the Government of Spain aimed at promoting social and territorial cohesion.
Ángel Blanco has learned from the hand of the neighbors and participants the help that this activity provides them to improve their skills in digital communication, email, instant messaging, banking and online shopping, as well as administrative procedures and internet security.
The activity is celebrated in the old schools of Burganes de Valverde, taught by the “digital nomads” Beatriz Izquierdo and Rocío Fernández, professionals in the area of Civil Engineering and the IT field, respectively, of the consultancy of the Ministry of Transport Ineco. Both combine their remote work with the workshops, which are aimed at both the general population and the small businesses of the municipality, to which they offer advice on digital positioning and electronic processing.
The subdelegate has valued the action of the Government of Spain to combat the digital divide with the RuralTIC program, to which the province of Zamora is incorporated for the first time in this second edition, called RuralTIC 2.0. There are two participating Zamoran municipalities: Burganes de Valverde and Fuentes de Ropel, where RuralTIC’s digital nomads will soon move. In total, 90 municipalities from all over Spain participate.
Ángel Blanco has highlighted that, through this program, the Government of Spain faces the demographic challenge, fights against the digital divide and depopulation, and promotes digital transformation in rural areas.
