Nicanor Sen reaffirms the Government’s commitment to improve the resources of the National Police with the incorporation of 192 vehicles to the mobile park of Castilla y León
New fleet of vehicles in National Police
January 24, 2024.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Spain to improve the resources of the National Police within the permanent commitment to strengthen security and the provision of service to citizens.
This has been demonstrated during the presentation of the new fleet of vehicles that joins the National Police of Castilla y León, in which it has been accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid in its first official act, Jacinto Canales, and the superior head of the National Police in Castilla y León, Juan Carlos Hernández.
In total, the National Police of Castilla y León incorporates 192 vehicles, of which 184 have been financed through the Spanish Government’s Recovery Plan funds. For its part, 7 of them have been acquired through the General Directorate of Police and the last by C.I.T.C.O. (Center for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organized Crime, under the Ministry of Defense). All of this has involved a joint investment of 7,606,974.79 euros.
“Vehicles that become essential tools in the daily work of agents and that will improve responsiveness and effectiveness in the fight against crime and the preservation of citizen security. With this acquisition, the Government of Spain is investing in security in Castilla y León,” said Sen.
These are vehicles equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that reduce emissions to the environment while promoting fuel efficiency. Specifically, eight of the new vehicles are 100% electric, 182 hybrids - mainly in the plug-in mode -, one gasoline and one diesel.
“It is important to highlight that, in addition to strengthening the operational capacity of our National Police, the Government of Spain reaffirms our commitment to environmental protection, since these are vehicles, all of them, more sustainable,” said the delegate.
FIRST DRONES OF THE LEADERSHIP
In addition, two new motorcycles are added, as well as the first two drones of the National Police Headquarters of Castilla y León, which became an essential tool in certain situations, such as search devices for missing persons, official events, music festivals, sports events or in investigation operations of various kinds.
Precisely Sen wanted to highlight the importance of investing in “technological innovation to “address more effectively police work and transform public security in Castilla y León. The Government is committed to strengthening the air safety culture to promote a police structure that increases its capacity to respond to new challenges,” said Sen.
For all these reasons, Sen recalled that the incorporation of these new vehicles, as well as the two drones, is a sign of the commitment of the Government of Spain for excellence in service and safety in Castilla y León.
The Air Safety and Security Service of Castilla y León, which includes unmanned aircraft, the UAS, known colloquially as drones, has been deployed in Castilla y León on the occasion of the visit of H.M. The King to Ponferrada or the President of the Government to Burgos, in the Sonorama of Aranda de Duero or the Cycling Tour to Spain, among other acts.
