January 10, 2024.– The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Ávila, Fernando Galeano, accompanied by the head of the Provincial Road Unit, David Martín, has visited the new educational radars installed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility at the ends of the crossing of the N-501 road as it passes through the town of Aveinte. The aim of this new signage, as indicated by the subdelegate, “is to help drivers moderate speed, avoid fines and improve road safety conditions for pedestrians on the crossings”.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has also installed this type of radar on other crossings of the N-403 and N-501 roads as it passes through the province of Ávila, such as those of Pajares de Adaja, Santo Domingo de Las Posadas, El Barraco and San Pedro del Arroyo.
The installed radars detect and inform the driver of their passing speed. When the speed at which it circulates is correct for that track, its numerical value appears in green and, when the speed is excessive, it appears in red.
The installed pedagogical radars work with high-brightness LED technology visible both during the day and at night and are powered by solar energy. In addition, to complete their safety function, they can also record traffic statistics such as average speeds, maximum speeds or vehicle intensity.
The investment made by the Ministry to install this new signage on the N-403 and N-501 roads has been 47,734.50 euros.
In addition to the pedagogical radars, it is planned to install three new information panels for variable messaging on the A-50 motorway, between Ávila and Salamanca. These panels report on the condition of the road in real time, allowing to anticipate possible risk situations to drivers or alert heavy traffic to possible restrictions for their circulation in adverse weather circumstances.
