December 12, 2023.- The Civil Guard of Segovia has recovered a book from the beginning of the 20th century that belongs to the Artillery Academy.
This is a first edition of a chromolithographic album by Elías Tormo Monzó on the decoration of the Royal Rooms of the Alcázar of Segovia, published in Madrid in June 1905.
It had been put on sale on the internet for one hundred euros, although it is presumed to be a high value for its age and quality, and was located in a bookstore in Madrid on November 16 that had placed it on a portal.
With dimensions of 40 by 30 centimeters and with about 40 pages, it was published with illustrations of the General Commissariat of Fine Arts and Monuments, according to drawings worked by José Avrial in 1844. It is not known when the book had disappeared, since there are no complaints. A soldier, upon checking that it was for sale on the Internet, gave notice to the Civil Guard.
The Anti-Heritage Crime Team has participated in the performance, with the collaboration of the Telematic Crime Service, of the Civil Guard Command of Segovia. There are no detainees and the investigation remains open.
The deputy delegate of the Government, Marian Rueda, and the lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard, Benito Donate, have delivered the copy to the colonel director of the Artillery Academy, Rafael de Felipe Barahona, in an act in which the director of the Military General Archive of Segovia, lieutenant colonel Javier Alonso, has participated.
The deputy delegate of the Government congratulated the Civil Guard for “their excellent work that has resulted in the recovery of this work and its delivery to their property”, while valuing the citizen collaboration and asking that “if someone observes in the networks or internet portals some strange situation, let the State Security Bodies and Forces be notified”.
