December 5, 2023.- The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Youth and Children, the distribution of 1,238,921 euros to Castilla y León to finance the transfer and solidarity reception of 23 unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents.
In total, the autonomous communities and the autonomous city of Ceuta will receive 20 million euros for the care of 396 unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents.
Last October, the Government and the autonomous communities agreed to this solidarity transfer within the Sectoral Conference on Children and Adolescents, which is part of the Migration Crisis Response Plan for Migrant Minors 2022-2023, approved on September 30, 2022.
The total amount of the allocation corresponds to the second and last allocation of the appropriation of the EUR 35 million budgeted for the transfer and multidisciplinary care necessary to protect the best interests of unaccompanied children and adolescents.
The first allocation, of 15 million euros, was allocated in May to the autonomous community of the Canary Islands and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, as they are the territories where the greatest number of arrivals have taken place.
The distribution of girls, boys and adolescents by autonomous communities and cities is as follows: Andalusia, 36; Community of Madrid, 34; Catalonia, 33; Principality of Asturias, 32; Galicia, 28; Cantabria, 26; Comunitat Valenciana, 25; Extremadura, 25; Aragon, 24; Castilla y León, 23; Canary Islands, 21; Castilla-La Mancha, 20; Region of Murcia, 19; Foral Community of Navarre, 17; Basque Country, 17; Illes Balears,10; La Rioja, 4 and Ceuta, 2. Melilla will not welcome any children on this occasion.
