November 9, 2023.- Last Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the Civil Guard of Palencia arrested a 52-year-old woman of Paraguayan nationality for a crime of human trafficking and drug trafficking.
Two other people, a 59-year-old Colombian man and a 43-year-old Paraguayan woman, have also been arrested for drug trafficking offences.
These arrests are the result of Operation “Quelles”, which began at the end of March, when, as a result of the inspections carried out by the Civil Guard in different premises of the province where prostitution is practiced, in order to verify that there is no sexual exploitation of any of the people who work there, there was knowledge of the existence of a house in the town of Palencia in which prostitution was practiced, that the people who exercised it were of Paraguayan origin and that narcotic substances were also sold.
During the seven and a half months that the investigation lasted, a second house was located where prostitution was also practised and a total of 16 women related to these houses were identified, which turned out to be of different nationalities.
In analysing the situation of these women, it was possible to see several indicators of human trafficking, since they do not have a labour contract; they are in a situation of total willingness to engage in prostitution; they receive instructions from a third person; they are required to pay a commission for each service; they are in a situation of multiple dependency, requiring third parties to have accommodation, maintenance and maintenance; or they are in an irregular administrative situation. All of them have been informed of their rights as victims of human trafficking.
A total of 91 grams of cocaine (arranged in single doses of 1 gram), 5.70 grams of speed, 2 pills of MDMA, 4 precision scales, 1 vacuum packaging machine and 4 mobile phones were found in the records of the two houses used to practice prostitution and the house where two of the detainees resided.
Also, 19,945 € were located in tickets of different size, without any of the detainees being able to justify the licit origin of the same.
