September 14, 2023.- A group of representatives of the users of the AVE train that links Zamora with Madrid have met today with the subdelegate of the Government in Zamora to expose the current situation of an increasingly large group that for work reasons uses this train on a daily basis.
According to the spokeswoman of the group, Montserrat Sastre, the main problem that these users of the recurring subscription currently have is the formalization of the tickets to make their daily trips to and from Spain: “We have to do it one or two months in advance because otherwise it is impossible to get a ticket and even so there are certain times, especially between 16.00 and 18.00 in the afternoon that they never have availability. This makes it very difficult to reconcile our life in Zamora with our work in Madrid.”
They ask that the quotas foreseen by Renfe for Zamorano travelers be extended. They also promote the early morning train, which, they say, has more and more users. In addition, they request that these discounted subscriptions for people who need it: in discounted subscriptions so that they are destined for travelers who really need them: “It is not the same to travel to Madrid for tourism as to do it as we do, which we do for work reasons.” Finally, they point to frequent delays as an added drawback.
These users claim to bet on Zamora as a place and way of life, but ask for guarantees to be able to do so: “Estamos haciendo un esfuerzo por permanecer aquí pero esta situación nos crea mucha inseguridad. We want to continue, but if there are no facilities for this we will have to leave.”
Both the Secretary General, Carmen León, and the deputy delegate of the Government, have committed themselves to transferring the claims and to follow up on this group, which soon intends to consolidate itself in partnership.
The subdelegate has valued his effort to contribute with his choice of life to fight against depopulation.
