August 3, 2023.- The deputy delegate of the Government, Marian Rueda, has presided over the Local Board of Citizen Security in which the device has been finalized for the festivities of the neighborhood of San Lorenzo, which will be held between August 8 and 13.
The meeting was attended by the head of Citizen Security of the National Police, the chief inspector Luis Villegas; the commander of Personnel and Support of the Civil Guard, Salvador Rojas and Lieutenant Daniel Calle; the councillor of Security of the City of Segovia, Raquel Alonso; the main head of the Local Police of Segovia, Vicente Sanz; and heads of the Association of Neighbors of San Lorenzo and the Cultural Association Peñas of the San Lorenzo neighborhood; in addition to the Secretary General and the Head of the Civil Delegation of Violence.
The Security Board has reviewed all the programming of events of the San Lorenzo festivities, and has focused on those in which the greatest accumulation of people is expected, such as the enclosures and the verbenas, and which will require greater vigilance. The festival program is scheduled to have fireworks on the 10th, San Lorenzo Day, but it will depend on whether the Junta de Castilla y León allows it, and the AEMET forecast; in case of high or extreme risk, they will have to be suspended.
The National Police and the Local Police will cooperate, as usual, to establish preventive measures to avoid any incident and the Civil Guard will be mainly responsible for the control of roads that access the city, carrying out alcohol and drug controls, being the Local Police, who make such controls in the city.
The deputy delegate said that “it is essential the collaboration that each year is provided by the peñista so that both neighbors and visitors can enjoy the parties without any mishap”.
It will not be allowed to carry on the street bottles or glasses of glass, in order to avoid possible dangers and damages. The goal is for everyone who participates in the parties to enjoy with tranquility and respect, as has usually happened in recent years. For this reason, we will also be vigilant in the face of possible machista attacks that may occur; and for this, we will distribute material from the campaign “Ser Libre. To be alive” of Government Delegation in Castilla y León, to raise awareness about it.
Finally, it has been recalled that children under 18 years of age are not allowed to enter the arena during the release of heifers.
