The Rural Demand-Only Program will take ultra-fast internet via satellite to 828,599 cadastral plots in Castilla y León
The Government delegate, Virginia Barcones, has presented this project designed by the Government of Spain through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation
July 14, 2023.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, has presented in Soria the Unique Program - Rural Demand, an initiative that will allow to bring ultra-fast internet via satellite to those areas that do not have a terrestrial connection of more than 50 megas. In Castilla y León, 828,599 cadastral plots have been registered in this situation.
The Rural Single Demand program is designed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and financed with the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the so-called Spain Can Plan. Its objective is that citizens and companies in remote, sparse and sparsely populated areas can develop their professional and vital projects by accessing digital connectivity, key to social inclusion.
In this way, it will allow ultra-fast internet browsing at an affordable price to citizens and businesses. Specifically, it offers the possibility of having the Internet through the Hispasat satellite with at least 100 megabits per second, a download at a price of 35 euros per month.
You will have no additional expenses and you will have an aid of up to 600 euros for the cost of the installation. Coverage will reach one hundred percent of the population in those areas where there is no access to fixed networks of at least 50 megabits per second.
The way to contract the service is through the website www.conectate35.es. You will have to indicate that you are a user, choose the province in which you live and the operator you prefer. From there this operator will take care of everything. The user only has to enjoy their quality internet connection without fuss at the price of 35 euros per month. The program will be in force until December 31, 2027 and is not subject to permanence.
The program has an endowment of 76.3 million euros that the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures has granted in grants to Hispasat and will allow ultra-fast connectivity to 828,599 cadastral plots of Castilla y León that have been identified and can benefit from this program because they do not have a fixed terrestrial technology connection at a minimum transmission speed of 50 megabits per second in a downward direction.
By province, the number of plots identified is as follows:
| PROVINCE | Nº PARCELAS |
|---|---|
| Ávila | 93.430 |
| Burgos | 132,582 |
| León | 154,836 |
| Palencia | 59,326 |
| Salamanca | 142,537 |
| Segovia | 46,645 |
| Soria | 65,724 |
| Valladolid | 46,163 |
| Zamora | 87,356 |
| TOTAL CyL | 828,599 |
Virginia Barcones has indicated that, in the 21st century, having an ultra-fast internet connection is “key to achieving the territorial and social cohesion we seek, an indispensable step to equate the rural and urban world. Access to the internet, to a quality internet, cannot be a privilege. It must be a right of all Spanish citizens.”
