April ends with 4,132 fewer unemployed in Castilla y León
Castilla y León earns 6,500 members of Social Security (+0.69)
May 4, 2023.- The number of people registered in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), at the end of April has been reduced by 4,132 people (-3.45%) in relation to the previous month. Compared to April 2022, year-on-year unemployment fell by 11,755 people (-9.24%).
The number of unemployed is thus 115,514 (with that -3.45%). The number of Social Security members increased by 0.69% (+6,500). As of April 2022, Castilla y León recorded 15,832 more contributors (+1.70%).
Unemployment by sector
By economic sectors compared to March, the registered unemployment falls in all sectors.
In the Services sector in 2,944 (-3.47%), Industry 384 (-3.93%), Agriculture 212 (-3.78%) and Construction 285 (-3.81%).
Among the No Previous Job group, it also decreased by 307 people (-2.59%).
Unemployment by sex and age
Unemployment fell by 2,183 women (-3.05%) and stood at 69,429, marking a minimum since 2008.
Male unemployment stood at 46,085, falling by 1,949 (-4.06%) compared to March.
Unemployment among young people under the age of 25 fell in April by 901 (-9.56%) compared to the previous month, a rate of decline that almost tripled to -3.45% of general unemployment.
Hiring
The total number of contracts registered during the month of April was 48,097.
In April 2023, 17,455 open-ended employment contracts were registered, representing 36.29% of all contracts.
In the year’s cumulative, 71,606 contracts have been concluded indefinitely until April 2023, 36.76% of the total for the first four months of the year.
The contracts of a temporary nature registered in the month of April 2023 have been 30,642.
They are 3,975 (-11.48%) less than the same month of the previous year. In cumulative terms, 123,192 temporary contracts have been registered in the first four months.
Benefits in March
The total number of beneficiaries and beneficiaries existing at the end of March was 72,315.
It should be recalled that the amount of the benefit has also been raised by increasing the basis of calculation from 50% to 60% of the regulatory base after reversing the cut made in that amount in 2012.
The total expenditure for March 2023 amounted to 78.5 million euros, similar to those for the same month of the previous year.
