Sabrido congratulates Antonio López-Alcahut after his appointment as new provincial chief commissioner of Albacete

The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, presided over the institutional act of the inauguration of the new provincial chief commissioner of the National Police in the province of Albacete, Antonio López-Alcahut, which was held in the reception room of the Government Subdelegation.

Sabrido has referred to Albacete as a safe province and has thanked the work of the 386 members of the National Police Force in the territory
Toledo.- The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, presided over the institutional act of the inauguration of the new provincial chief commissioner of the National Police in the province of Albacete, Antonio López-Alcahut, which was held in the reception room of the Government Subdelegation.
“It is an honor to be with them”, said the government delegate, while thanking López-Alcahut “for his professional experience, his vocation of service, his commitment and the multitude of recognitions that he already has and that support the appointment made by the General Director of the Police”.
Sabrido also reminded the new provincial chief commissioner that he has the commitment of the Government of Spain as well as his own to continue working to guarantee the security of the province of Albacete.
Sabrido has also valued the work of the previous Commissioner: “I am honored to be a friend of the National Police and I feel a great responsibility in this act of relief that will help me to thank on behalf of all Spaniards the work done by the former Chief Commissioner, Don Antonio Bueno.”
In his speech during the event, referring to the National Police Force, he thanked "their commitment to duty" and expressed that "you are the best of public service", at a stage full of individualism and where public work is constantly criticized.
Currently, the National Police Corps has 386 members in the province of Albacete, distributed in the capital and in the town of Hellín, being one of the main causes of the provincial crime rate being nine points below the national average, with notable decreases in serious crimes; 26.3% fewer robberies with force in homes establishments and a 26.9% decrease in crimes against sexual freedom.
The event was attended by the Superior Chief of Police of Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Herrero, the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Albacete, Miguel Juan Espinosa, and representatives of Albacete institutions, parliamentarians, as well as judicial and military authorities, members of the National Police, heads of the Civil Guard and the Local Police and relatives of the new commissioner.
About the new commissioner
The new head of the Provincial Police Station of Albacete, Antonio José López-Alcahut, is from Albacete and joined the National Police in September 1994 as a Student Inspector. In 1997 he was appointed Inspector of the Executive Scale and assigned to the Superior Headquarters of Navarre, where he carried out anti-terrorist information until the year 2000.
That same year he returned to Albacete to join the Provincial Commissariat. In 2010 he became Chief Inspector, assuming responsibilities as head of the Provincial Information Brigades in Cuenca and of the Judicial Police in Albacete. Subsequently, between 2017 and 2021, he was in charge of the Hellín Local Police Station as the most responsible.
In 2021 he rose to the rank of Commissioner, being assigned to the Provincial Commissariat of Castellón as Provincial Chief of Operations. After his return to Albacete in December 2022, he continued to serve as provincial chief of operations until his appointment as head of the Provincial Commissariat of Albacete.
López-Alcahut holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Law from UCLM, as well as a degree in Police Science.
Throughout his professional career he has received 180 public congratulations and numerous decorations, among them three Police Merit Crossings with white distinctive, as well as recognitions of Civil Guard, Civil Protection and different civil and police institutions, reflecting a career marked by commitment, operational experience and dedication to public service.
