The Government Delegation in Castilla-La Mancha keeps a minute of silence in memory of Tatiana and Yaret, the last victims of male violence in Spain
The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha this morning observed a minute of silence at the doors of the institutional headquarters as a sign of condemnation and revulsion for the last two confirmed cases of male violence: the murder of Tatiana, 28 years old, murdered on February 20 in Navarre, and that of the minor Yaret, 10 years old, murdered on the same day in Tenerife in a new case of vicarious violence; the second in just a few days.
Toledo.- The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha this morning observed a minute of silence at the doors of the institutional headquarters as a sign of condemnation and revulsion for the last two confirmed cases of male violence: the murder of Tatiana, 28 years old, murdered on February 20 in Navarre, and that of the minor Yaret, 10 years old, killed on the same day in Tenerife in a new case of vicarious violence; the second in just a few days.
The event was chaired by the Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, accompanied by the Government subdelegate in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia; heads of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women; representatives of the Civil Guard and the National Police; as well as personnel of the Delegation and other public administrations.
With these crimes, there are already 10 women killed by gender violence so far in 2026 and 2 minors killed in vicarious violence crimes in a particularly tragic few days that again show the persistence of a structural violence that violates the fundamental rights of women and their sons and daughters.
Since 2003, 1,353 women have been murdered for gender violence in Spain. Since 2013, 67 boys and girls have been killed for gender-based violence against their mothers and 514 children have been orphaned.
Statements by the delegate
After the minute of silence, José Pablo Sabrido has acknowledged that reconvening an act of condemnation just three days after the previous one causes him deep sadness and great pain, having to denounce machista murders again in such a short space of time.
The delegate has stated that these crimes cannot go unnoticed and has guaranteed that both victims will always have institutional memory and solidarity with their families.
Sabrido has also reiterated his request for collaboration and complicity to both society and the media, stressing that this is a struggle for equality, dignity and freedom for women in which it cannot be abandoned.
In this regard, it has insisted that this violence must continue to be combated without being complicit in policies that deny its existence. He has stressed that inequality and male violence are not an ideological issue, but a reality against which the whole society must be intolerant, applying zero tolerance to any murder of a woman at the hands of her partner or ex-partner.
The delegate concluded by reiterating his solidarity with the families of the murdered woman and child and his commitment to continue publicly denouncing each case of male violence.
Institutional declaration
In application of the protocol approved by the Ministry of Equality and the Ministry of Territorial Policy in the face of each murder due to gender violence, an institutional declaration has been disseminated in which it is stressed that, as a democratic society, “we cannot tolerate any type of violence against women because they are women”.
This same institutional statement recalls that male violence “is a structural violence, based on sexist discrimination, inequality and imbalance in power relations between women and men. Violence against women and girls violates their fundamental rights to life, liberty, physical and moral integrity, equality and dignity.”
Likewise, an appeal is made to all institutions, administrations and the whole of society to maintain unity and firmness in the face of this violence and to continue moving towards a more just, egalitarian and machista violence-free society.
Resources of Assistance
The Ministry of Equality, through the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, recalls that telephone 016, online consultations through email 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel on the number 600 000 016 and the online chat available on the web violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
The 016 provides advice on available remedies and the rights of victims of all forms of violence against women, as well as legal advice from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day of the week, with care in 53 languages and a service adapted to possible situations of disability.
In case of emergency, you can call 112 or the telephone numbers of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062). If it is not possible to make a call, in a situation of danger the ALERTCOPS application can be used, which sends an alert signal with geolocation to the State Security Forces and Bodies.
These means can be activated by the victim and also by anyone who knows or suspects of a case of gender violence, since the eradication of this violence is a collective responsibility.
